I served 27 years in the military, split with the US Army and US Coast Guard, having earned 12 medals and 16 ribbons. My highest Medal was presented by Admiral Robert Papp on behalf of President Obama for Meritorious Service. Under Captain James Spotts, I took a critical leadership role to facilitate a medical aid station during Operation Rescue Haiti in January 2010. It was in Haiti that I learned that Morphine is Mercy! I retired from the military in October 2015 at the E-7 pay level.
Last year I was presented the 2017 US Xpress Team Driver of the Year Award. US Xpress has roughly 5,000 truck drivers.
On the 4th of July, 2018, the US Xpress Military Fleet (five commercial trucks) paraded in Washington, DC. This was an event that I had hands on leadership to make this event occur, including influencing the design of five new military fleet trucks.
I am a Certified Toastmaster which trained me to feel at home when public speaking. I would love to address audiences on the opportunities within truck driving as I have a passion for bringing married couples, Seniors and Military Veterans into truck driving.
People who know me understand that I am most always a very happy camper who is quick to develop ideas toward improving any situation that I am acquainted with. My kids call me "The ideas Bub." I am in great health and plan to STAY that way.
I was recognized for taking charge, being the senior medical specialist of two Coast Guard Cutters, USCGC Tahoma and USCGC Mohawk, from January 12th through 18th, 2010 following the 7.0 earthquake that devistated Haiti.
Near Port-au-Prince on Killick Hatian Coast Guard Base, I lead over 200 Coast Guardsmen and a handful of Hatian volunteers to render medical aid to approximately 600 wounded Hatian civilians.
